Manganese Sulfate
MnSO4·H2O 169.02

Sulfuric acid,manganese(2+)salt (1:1)monohydrate.
Manganese(2+)sulfate (1:1)monohydrate [10034-96-5].

Anhydrous 151.00 [7785-87-7].
»Manganese Sulfate contains not less than 98.0percent and not more than 102.0percent of MnSO4·H2O.
Packaging and storage— Preserve in tight containers.Store at 25,excursions permitted between 15and 30.
Identification— Asolution (1in 10)responds to the tests for Manganese á191ñand for Sulfate á191ñ.
Loss on ignition á733ñ Ignite it at 450to constant weight:it loses between 10.0%and 13.0%of its weight.
Substances not precipitated by ammonium sulfide— Dissolve 2.0g in 90mLof water, add 5mLof ammonium hydroxide, warm the solution, and pass hydrogen sulfide through the solution for about 30minutes.Dilute with water to 100mL,mix,and allow the precipitate to settle.Decant the supernatant through a filter, transfer 50mLof the clear filtrate to a tared dish, evaporate to dryness, and ignite, gently at first and finally at 800±25:the weight of the residue does not exceed 5mg (0.5%).
Organic volatile impurities,Method Iá467ñ: meets the requirements.
Assay— Dissolve about 350mg of Manganese Sulfate,accurately weighed,in 200mLof water.Add about 10mg of ascorbic acid,begin the titration by adding about 25mLof 0.05Medetate disodium VS,using a suitable buret,then add 10mLof ammonia–ammonium chloride buffer TS,and about 0.15mLof eriochrome black TS,and complete the titration with 0.05Medetate disodium VSto a blue endpoint.Each mLof 0.05Medetate disodium is equivalent to 8.451mg of MnSO4·H2O.
