Silver Nitrate Ophthalmic Solution
»Silver Nitrate Ophthalmic Solution is a solution of Silver Nitrate in a water medium.It contains not less than 0.95percent and not more than 1.05percent of AgNO3.The solution may be buffered by the addition of Sodium Acetate.
Packaging and storage— Preserve it protected from light,in inert,collapsible capsules or in other suitable single-dose containers.
Clarity and color of solution— It is clear and colorless.
Identification— It responds to the tests for Silver á191ñand for Nitrate á191ñ.
Sterility á71ñ: meets the requirements.
pHá791ñ: between 4.5and 6.0.
Assay— Place 5mLof Ophthalmic Solution,accurately measured,in a conical flask,dilute with 20mLof water,add 1mLof nitric acid and 1mLof ferric ammonium sulfate TS,and titrate with 0.02Nammonium thiocyanate VS.Each mLof 0.02Nammonium thiocyanate is equivalent to 3.397mg of AgNO3.
