»Sorbitan Sesquioleate is a partial oleate ester of Sorbitol and its mono-and dianhydrides.It yields,upon saponification,not less than 74.0percent and not more than 80.0percent of fatty acids,and not less than 22.0percent and not more than 28.0percent of polyols (w/w).
Packaging and storage— Preserve in tight containers.
Identification— It responds to Identificationtests Aand Bunder Sorbitan Monooleate.
Acid value á401ñ: not more than 14.
Hydroxyl value á401ñ: between 182and 220.
Iodine value á401ñ: between 65and 75.
Saponification value á401ñ: between 143and 165.
Water,Method Iá921ñ: not more than 1.0%.
Residue on ignition á281ñ: not more than 1.4%.

Assay for polyols— Proceed as directed for Assay for polyolsunder Sorbitan Monooleate.
